C. P. Beaty
Educated at The Brearley School, The Philips Exeter Academy, and Yale College, Constance Beaty attended the Parsons School of Design, The New School, and the Art Student’s League. She studied painting and drawing under Ronald Sherr, Mary Beth MacKenzie and Harvey Dinnerstein at the National Academy of Design School, where she was the recipient of several awards including the John Young-Hunter Memorial Award (1991) and the Len G. Everett Traveling Scholarship (1991). She then accompanied her husband, a foreign correspondent, to Managua, Nicaragua, where she lived and painted for two years. Upon her return to the United States in 1990, Beaty set up a studio and has been painting commissioned portraits and landscapes ever since.
Beaty's work may be found in numerous private collections, and she is honored that all of the academic institutions she attended, Brearley, Exeter, and Yale, commissioned her to paint portraits for their collections. Other portraits hang in such august institutions as Connecticut College, The Law School of Columbia University, and the United States Senate. She has just completed the official portrait of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for the Supreme Court, which will be hung at the Court when Justice Ginsburg eventually retires, and will remain part of the collection of the Supreme Court.
The artist has painted over 75 subjects, ranging from Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont to The Magnificent Fosca, a teacup Yorkie. She divides her time between New York City and Tinmouth, Vermont.
